How to Create a Zero-Interference, Dual-Output Power Adapter for an IPS Display

Since 2010, YHY has operated on a single principle: to be our customers’ most trusted power partner. We don’t just provide products; we offer technical and certification services that support power supply design/testing and deliver effective power solutions.

A company was looking for suitable power solution for their high-end IPS displays. The big challenge was to power both the display and its controller from a single adapter, requiring two outputs—12V/2A and 5V/5A—that would not interfere with each other.

This might sound like a simple dual-output task, but our initial single-transformer design hit a roadblock during testing. When the 5V load suddenly increased (for example, when the controller began processing an HD data stream), the 12V line experienced a slight, momentary voltage dip. While minor, this fluctuation is enough to cause subtle screen flickering or brightness changes on a pixel-perfect IPS display. Conversely, power consumption changes from the display could also disrupt the controller’s stable operation.

This is a classic case of poor Cross Regulation and electrical noise interference.

The Power Solution:

After a thorough review of the project requirements and the product’s application, the YHY engineering team decided to redesign the power architecture. Our solution was to build an adapter that integrates two completely independent transformers, each with its own rectification and filtering circuit.

When we delivered this dual-transformer power adapter to our client, the results were immediate and clear. On their IPS display system, whether the controller was idle or under a full load, the screen’s brightness and color remained perfectly stable. No interference could be detected, either by the naked eye or by precision instruments.

This case study is more than just a successful custom project; it highlights a growing trend. As electronic devices become more complex and integrated, the demands on power supplies have moved far beyond “just working.” Key metrics for an excellent power adapter now include multi-channel output, high stability, and robust anti-interference capabilities.

As a provider of power solutions, YHY understands its responsibility. We are more than just a manufacturer; we are guardians of our clients’ product performance and partners in technical innovation.
